J.C. Gomez, born and bred in Miami, has been in the Army since 1999; I have served in the Regular Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserves. I started my military career as an enlisted member in the 82nd Airborne Division and was commissioned as a 2LT through FIU Army ROTC in 2004. Currently, I am a LTC in the USAR, assigned to SOCSOUTH at Homestead Air Reserve Base.
I have been serving in the Individually Mobilized Augmentee (IMA) program since 2014; when I changed directions and became a partner in Building Experts, a commercial property maintenance and hybrid construction company that is affiliated with Wellington Construction Group.
I am an active member of the American Legion – Post 98, and I am involved in several community organizations most notably, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (MAC), Shake a Leg-Miami and now, VetBaseball.
Lastly, I currently serve on the FIU College of Business Alumni Board (Go Panthers!) where I participate in board activities, the mentorship program and philanthropy for academic scholarships.
The most important thing you can know about me is that I love my family and I work hard to create a life that is worth living. I have been married to Liza Gomez for 22 years. Our children are Alek Wellington and Savannah Reese Gomez.
My wife is a fellow Miami Native and FIU Panther; she works as a realtor at Luxe Properties in Coral Gables.
