Alan Duretz*, Founder and Chairman
Alan was born in Philadelphia, becoming a third-generation veteran. He graduated from (Phila College of Textiles and Science) now Jefferson University, LaSalle MBA, and completed the Healthcare Impact Program at the Wharton School. He enjoyed a 30 plus year career as a healthcare administrator, executive and principal stockholder. He was appointed to Florida’s Medicare Carrier Provider Outreach and Education Committee, Web Portal Development Team, Florida Healthcare Association PAC, and served as a 5-year Board Member and Treasurer of the Psychologists in Long Term Care Association.

A lifelong baseball fan, he has been a long time Marlins season ticket holder, instilling a love of the game to his daughters and grandchildren. He has enjoyed meeting and getting to know many MLB players, managers, executives, broadcasters, and an agent or two. While Loan Depot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins is his favorite ballpark, he is well on his way of visiting all 32 of them. Alan Served from 1969-1976 in the U.S. Army (Active and Reserve) being honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.

Roy Moncado, Founder and Secretary
Roy Moncada is a native New Yorker, raised in Brooklyn, transplanted to South Florida. He earned an AAS in Computer Information Systems at S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill and a BS in Information Technology from Broward College. Roy has spent the last 18 years working in varying levels of Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management, the last 15 becoming a partner and Vice President of a national claims processing and software company. Roy played baseball all of his life, including at the college level and competitive recreational leagues. He also coached youth baseball for 10 years in both local leagues and middle school. He is passionate about serving the community and veterans through the proud efforts of Vetbaseball, of which he is a founding Board Member and Secretary.

Howard Wishinsky, CPA, Treasurer
Howard Wishinsky, originally from Brooklyn, New York, is a lifelong baseball (Mets) fan, which makes for great conversations here.

Following his graduation from Hofstra University in 1969, he obtained his CPA license in 1973. He practiced for J.K. Lasser until 1974, then became a partner in Wishinsky and Company from 1974 to 1994. Relocating to FL he joined the Steven S. Lindenbaum firm from 2002 to the present.

Howard has 54 years of experience in accounting and taxes for trusts, estates, non-profits, and individuals.

Douglas Stein, Founder, Director of legal Affairs, Ex Officio
Douglas H. Stein, originally from Long Island (Dix Hills) New York, is a lifelong baseball fan with a knowledge of the game that few can match. Following his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, he moved south and received his Juris Doctor degree in May of 1982 from the University of Miami School of Law where he served as Editor-In-Chief, Lawyer of the Americas, University of Miami Inter-American Law Review. Doug is a member of the Bars of the State of Florida, District of Columbia and State of New York. Doug has trained in the martial arts for 48 years and holds a 6th degree blackbelt in Shotokan karate. Doug was appointed by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (“USOPC”) to serve 8 years on the Board of Directors of U.S. Karate and is presently Special Counsel to the President of the Amateur Athletic Union (“AAU”).

Doug resides in Coral Gables, Florida with his wife Liz, also an attorney, and enjoys their two sons, grandsons, and attending almost every Marlins home game.

LTC J.C. Gomez*
J.C. Gomez, born and bred in Miami, has been in the Army since 1999; I have served in the Regular Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserves. I started my military career as an enlisted member in the 82nd Airborne Division and was commissioned as a 2LT through FIU Army ROTC in 2004. Currently, I am a LTC in the USAR, assigned to SOCSOUTH at Homestead Air Reserve Base.

I have been serving in the Individually Mobilized Augmentee (IMA) program since 2014; when I changed directions and became a partner in Building Experts, a commercial property maintenance and hybrid construction company that is affiliated with Wellington Construction Group. I am an active member of the American Legion – Post 98, and I am involved in several community organizations most notably, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (MAC), Shake a Leg-Miami and now, VetBaseball.

Lastly, I currently serve on the FIU College of Business Alumni Board (Go Panthers!) where I participate in board activities, the mentorship program and philanthropy for academic scholarships. The most important thing you can know about me is that I love my family and I work hard to create a life that is worth living.

Harold (Hal) Doner*
Harold (Hal) Doner was born in Philadelphia, graduated high school, attended college, and then enlisted in the Air Force. Hal was trained in various communication disciplines, then went on assignment in the United Kingdom. After advancing to the rank of Sargent, and obtaining a college degree, he was honorably discharged.

After spending some time working the space program at the Kennedy Space Center, Hal joined the Philadelphia School System as a teacher, earned a master degree, and enjoyed a career in several educational capacities, retiring later this year as a high school registrar. He is a Master Mason and involved with the Veterans Multi-Service Center of Philadelphia, and through them the Edison 64 Project.

Hal and his wife Judy started Vetbaseball’s Phila. Chapter, and along the way have given of their time, knowledge, support and hospitality. Judy and Hal enjoy a blended family of one son, two daughters, and a couple of the cutest grandkids they often spend time with. They enjoy many lifelong friendships going back to their youth and Air Force days.

Daniel Rosenblatt
Dan Rosenblatt served as Executive Director of the International Association of Chiefs of Police from 1986-2011. He oversaw their staff of more than 120 who served more than 20,000 members representing more than 100 countries. His career included serving in the U.S. Department of Justice, press secretary of a U.S. Congressman, and spokesman for the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. His work has been recognized by a wide variety of public and private organizations including the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, along with the Target Corporation, Special Olympics International and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.Dan also is a past president of the National Organization for Victim Assistance and a 20-year board member of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund. He has also served on a variety of local boards and advisory groups providing counsel to police agencies, prosecutor’s offices and business organizations.

Mr. Rosenblatt currently is managing partner at Lee, McMahon & Rosenblatt, LLC, an international consulting group that provides services and strategies to police agencies and the communities they serve.
He and his wife, Lonie Hassel, live in Alexandria, Virginia and have two daughters, a son-in-law and a magnificent Golden Retriever named Chief who is a descendant of one of the first bat dogs employed in professional baseball.

Thayra “Tye” Hausheer*
Born and raised in Panama, Tye arrived in the United States at age 19 and joined the U.S. Air Force where she served for four years. After her honorable discharge, Tye attended Boise State University in Idaho studying Health Information Management.

Tye is a Volunteer Leader for AARP National and in South Florida where she is very active in Outreach – sharing AARP’s vision with people in Florida. She is also a Volunteer Leader for the Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE) and the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) programs under the Alliance for Aging where she serves as a Medicare counselor educating seniors about their medical coverage options and avoiding becoming a victim of fraud, and is also a counselor for the Program to Enhance Active Rewarding Lives (PEARLS), a community-based depression treatment program designed to help individuals develop problem-solving techniques to increase health and happiness in their daily lives. She volunteers for VITAS in the Bereavement Department, and is also part of the VITAS Volunteers for Veterans Team. Tye also serves in the Mission United Miami Advisory Board as the Outreach Co-Lead, and is a member of the Latino Center on Aging Advisory Board, as well. In addition, she is a Peer Leader for Women Veterans Network (WoVeN), a nation-wide network of peer support groups that connects women Veterans of all eras and service branches and empowers them with information, education, and resources to improve quality of life. Tye has also collaborated with several local Veterans organizations such as the Vet Center, The Mission Continues, and Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department.

On November 2022, Tye was honored as a Woman Warrior by the South Dade Veterans Alliance, Inc. in recognition for her military service. In 2021, she was honored as one of South Florida Hispanic Woman of Distinction for her outstanding service to our community, and she was named the VITAS Best Volunteer of the Year in 2019 for her work with hospice care patients, and as an integral part of the VITAS Volunteers for Veterans Team that recognizes Veterans at their end-of-life stage.

Happily married for 35 years to Jeff, also an Air Force Veteran, they have two children, Jair, an Air Force Veteran, and Kirei, who is currently serving in the Air Force Reserve. Tye enjoys traveling with her family, learning languages, and working on art projects.


Doug Wilson
Doug Wilson was born and raised in New York State. His father serviced in the US Navy during the Korean conflict and his uncle served in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Growing up as the grandson of a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and a New York Giants fan, he was destined to become a lifelong New York Mets fan. During his remarkable three-year Little League career, he was primarily used as a corner outfielder. Known for his on-base prowess, his coach could always count on him to come off the bench in later innings and get on-base via walk or hit-by-pitch. By the age of 12, his playing career was over, but he still treasures his Spalding baseball mitt with its embossed Tom Seaver autograph.

An Eagle Scout, former Cubmaster, Merit Badge Counselor, District Events Coordinator and three-time National Jamboree Scoutmaster, he currently serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was honored with the Baltimore Area Council, Four Rivers District Award of Merit. He volunteers with the Honor Flight Network as a greeter providing our heroes with a meaningful welcome at BWI Airport as they arrive to visit THEIR memorials in Washington, D.C. and Virginia. In addition, he volunteers at events promoting the Hubert V. Simmons Museum of Negro Leagues Baseball (SMNLB) located in Owings Mills, MD.

He is a Senior Staff Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation with over 42 years of experience. He is a longtime member of the Association of Old Crows. Living in Maryland, Doug has grown an affinity (along with other long-suffering O’s fans) for the Baltimore Orioles. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a top 5 favorite of the 29 current MLB ballparks that he has visited.
