She is also a Volunteer Leader for the Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE) and the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) programs under the Alliance for Aging where she serves as a Medicare counselor educating seniors about their medical coverage options and avoiding becoming a victim of fraud, and is also a counselor for the Program to Enhance Active Rewarding Lives (PEARLS), a community-based depression treatment program designed to help individuals develop problem-solving techniques to increase health and happiness in their daily lives. She volunteers for VITAS in the Bereavement Department, and is also part of the VITAS Volunteers for Veterans Team. Tye also serves in the Mission United Miami Advisory Board as the Outreach Co-Lead, and is a member of the Latino Center on Aging Advisory Board, as well. In addition, she is a Peer Leader for Women Veterans Network (WoVeN), a nation-wide network of peer support groups that connects women Veterans of all eras and service branches and empowers them with information, education, and resources to improve quality of life. Tye has also collaborated with several local Veterans organizations such as the Vet Center, The Mission Continues, and Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department.

On November 2022, Tye was honored as a Woman Warrior by the South Dade Veterans Alliance, Inc. in recognition for her military service. Tye is frequently invited on radio and other media outlets for programs as “Para Mayores”, Latino Center on Aging weekly radio show; and as an Aging Mastery Program presenter to discuss themes that affect the aging population.

Happily married for 35 years to Jeff, also an Air Force Veteran, they have two children, Jair, an Air Force Veteran, and Kirei, who is currently serving in the Air Force Reserve. Tye enjoys traveling with her family, learning languages, and working on art projects.
